According to an email from Ben Guaraldi, Director of Outreach for 48 Hour Film Project, Jack Lofton of the Little Rock Film Festival will be replacing Steve Stone as the Little Rock Producer of the festival. The dates are August 20-22. Sign up here http://www.48hourfilm.com/littlerock

Dear Little Rock 48HFP filmmakers and fans,

I’d like to introduce our new Little Rock Producer of the 48 Hour Film Project, Jack Lofton. Many of you know Jack already, as he’s the Executive Director of the Little Rock Film Festival. We’re excited about the partnership with the Little Rock Film Festival and look forward to presenting the amazing work of the Little Rock film community as part of the 48 Hour Film Project again this year.

Please note: We’ve pushed the dates back slightly to August 20-22, to give teams time to sign up and us time to prepare.

Looks like our ‘ole friend Graham is doing a column for ArkTimes. Wonder how long it will last when “The Wreck” gets picked up for a full order for AMC. Here’s the scoop:

New columnist: Graham Gordy This week’s A&E section marks the debut of a bi-weekly column by local screenwriter/man of wide knowledge Graham Gordy. It’s gonna focus, naturally, on arts and entertainment culture with occasional diversions. I think you’re going to like it. The first one is called “Nostalgia’s creeping hold on pop culture.” If we had more room for a title, we might’ve called it “Why Nietzsche, if he were still alive, would be pissed that Hollywood decided to remake ‘The A-Team’.” (via Rock Candy | Arkansas Times)

- via Rock Candy | Arkansas Times Lindsey Millar @rockcandies gets the scoop on Jeff Nichols sophomore film entitled Shelter. If you’re pissed he’s not following Shotgun Stories up with Goat (I’ve come to terms) go elsewhere because anything with Shannon in every scene has my mouth watering. Nichols says the film will hopefully hit festivals in 2011.

Also to quote Shannon in an interview with Slashfilm back in March referring to the interviewer stating Shotgun Stories was on of his favorite films of 2008:

Man, thanks. I’m glad you liked it. I might make another film with [writer/director Jeff Nichols] this summer. You know his film, Goat, it’s been in a standstill for a while. There was was a lot of motion on it at one point and then it just slowed, so we’re both suddenly more interested in this project called Shelter. And Jeff’s also developing a show for HBO right now, I think…

Why you shouldn’t post videos on youtube bitching about your job. It could get you fired.

According to Arkansas Business “Three KARK on-air employees and a photographer have been fired in the aftermath of two profanity-laden spoof videos that aired on YouTube,ArkansasBusiness.com has learned”

It appears that only Part 1 of the videos is available online. Let this be a lesson to all you trigger-happy spoofers who loathe your job. The Internet isn’t going to make you rich and famous any faster than you’re employer can find video of you talking crap about the company. Do the Internet math.

Lee directed the critically praised films Do the Right Thing (Criterion) and most recently the Hurricane Katrina Documentary When the Leeves Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts.
